Along with ample playing & coaching experience all our coaches have been through a 5-8 month internships with Tallahassee Basketball Academy founder Akii Dean to ensure they provide the best training available. Every trainer has been in the gym with NBA players through players who have never picked up a basketball, so we are ready to serve you at whatever stage your at in your process here at Tallahassee Basketball Academy.
After career ending hip surgery during his playing career at Ave Maria University, Akii founded Process Basketball Training. Studying the details of the top players in the world, Akii has put together a philosophy and developmental process to help any player he works with. At the young age of 28, Akii has worked with thousands of players at all levels. He is the only trainer to have developed 2 NBA Top 10 Draft Picks players, consecutively (working with them since high school before they were ranked. Akii has worked with players in the NBA Pre- Draft Process, Olympic Gold Medalists, Division 1 athletes along with players just starting to learn the fundamentals of the game and develop that slight edge before their peers. He has hosted many of his own successful clinics and is currently working with some of the top up and coming HS talent in the nation, as well as helping NBA pros. His purposeful, detailed oriented approach and game based workouts will push players to new levels, and teach players about life. His goal is emmulate Christ by loving, serving and caring about all players he works with.
Amber Dean played 3 years at Ave Maria University. When unfortunate tibia stress fracture cut her career short, she helped build Process Basketball with her Husband Akii Dean. She has been in the gym with thousands of players, helped train players in the NBA Pre Draft Process and has trained countless players from the D1 levels to beginners on her own. Amber is our head of Athletic development and is in the Process of receiving her NASM PES (Performance Enhancement Specialist). She specializes in athleticism development of athletes and has worked with professionals through elementary schoolers on mobility, flexibility, injury prevention, quickness, vertical explosiveness and more.
Coach Ray Daly has been coaching in the Tallahassee area for over 10 years helping young men and women max out their potential both on and off of the basketball court. He has been apart of six district championships, two regional championships, and two state final appearances.
He served as the Interim Head Coach for the Lincoln High School Boys’ basketball program. He led them to their first ever Championship game appearance, falling shy of a few points and ending the season as the runner-up in the 2017 8A FHSAA Championship.
He also served as an AAU Basketball Director for 5 years and coached multiple student-athletes who have advanced to the collegiate level. He is currently Coaching our Process Travel Teams. Coach Daly played high school basketball in New York City at Bishop Loughlin High School (Brooklyn, NY).
Coach Daly’s unmatched work ethic, passion for the game and the youth he serves, and selfless attitude has helped numerous players get closer to reaching their dreams on and off the court.
Charlie Velazquez grew up in Belle Glade, Florida. He finished his high school career at Berean Christian School in West Palm Beach where he was a 1000 point scorer. After high school, Charlie received a scholarship to play his first two years at Hillsborough Community College. After HCC, Charlie earned a scholarship to play at Emmanuel College, where he went on to graduate and receive his Bachelor’s degree. At Emmanuel, he was a part of the program’s first ever Conference Carolinas Championship and school’s first appearance at the NCAA Division 2 Tournament.
Charlie has been a part of the Process family since 2016 when he first started training as a player. Charlie accredits Process for changing his life perspective on and outside the basketball court. Also, Process provided him with an opportunity to intern his sophomore year of college while continuing to learn the game from both the player and training perspective.
Since that time, Charlie has trained youth, high school, college, and NBA/Pro players. His main goal is to impact the lives of the players he works with by developing real relationships with them and helping them reach their fullest potential on and off the court.
